With rugged cliffs, sandy beaches and the historic capital of the Isle of Man, Castletown, the south of the island has lots to see and enjoy within a compact small area.
The north of the Isle of Man is rich in wildlife, featuring the Ayres Nature Reserve with its sand dunes and diverse habitats for birds and plants. Ramsey Bay, a Marine Nature Reserve, supports various marine species. The Northern Plain's farmlands and wetlands attract a variety of birds and small mammals.
Explore the sunset city of Peel dominated by its large Viking castle! To the south of Peel, the rugged west coast and Niarbyl is a special place, head north and the rugged cliffs turn to sand.
Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man, offers a blend of historical charm, stunning coastal views, and modern amenities. The Douglas Bay Horse Tramway is one of the most iconic and charming features of the Isle of Man. Established in 1876, this historic tramway runs along the promenade in Douglas and is one of the oldest horse-drawn tramways in the world still in operation.
Weve just had a 3 night staycation at Balladuke Farmhouse.
We chose to stay at Balladuke for many reasons, the lovely location, handily placed for Port Erin beach, steam railway etc etc.
On arrival we were met by the owner of the property who was very friendly and extremely welcoming. She was happy to chat about the history of this beautifully updated old farmhouse.
The house itself is surprisingly spacious, very comfortable and well equipped. Our family group ranged in age from an almost 4 yr old boy to his 75yr Grandad. The fact that hay/silage was being turned during our stay was an added bonus for a tractor mad little boy.
We are all happy to recommend Balladuke farmhouse to anyone looking for a lovely peaceful stay in the Manx countryside .
We would thoroughly recommend using Island Escapes for a hassle free booking experience.

We needed a break away from everything and this was perfect. Beautiful place to stay with plenty of walks nearby. We could chill and do nothing but listen to the birds and enjoy the special spaces
Loved the little welcome pieces that John and Shirley scattered around.
Close Taggart is a special place and we will be back.

What a wonderful time we had at Ballacallin Court! The properties are beautiful and just perfect for a group of ladies who wanted to 'get away from it all'. Fabulous location, spotless and roomy accommodation - just what we wanted for my 50th celebrations! Highly recommended : )
