Built in 1857 as the original lighthouse keeper's home, the cottage is one of the Isle of Man's most famous landmarks.

Staying here is a rare experience - an opportunity to step back in time and enjoy the wild beauty of the Manx coast. The cottage comes with its own private jetty and offers uninterrupted sea views that stretch across the Irish Sea. From the windows, you can watch waves roll and crash below, and ferries glide in and out of Douglas Harbour.

When the weather turns, you can batten down the hatches and listen to the wind whip around the headland, all from the comfort of this beautifully restored maritime cottage. It's the perfect place to disconnect, slow down, and feel the raw power of the sea from a front-row seat.

Although the access is intrepid and part of its charm - a winding route that reminds you you're heading somewhere truly special - the cottage is still only a short walk or drive from Douglas town centre, with its shops, restaurants, and transport links. You can easily explore nearby attractions such as the Douglas Head Camera Obscura, Marine Drive, Port Skillion, and the Douglas Heritage Trail.

Inside, the Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage has been beautifully refurbished to create a cosy, characterful retreat, combining historic charm with modern comfort. Every corner tells a story, and every window offers a new perspective on the ever-changing sea.

Potential guests should note that the Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage is in a unique coastal location perched on the cliffs near Douglas Head. The access is on foot only via the cove at Port Skillion and involves climbing over 100 steps and crossing a pebble beach, but the peace, tranquillity and uninterrupted views make it so worth while!

Please consider whether this access is right for you and everyone in your group - especially when carrying luggage or shopping. We would kindly suggest that it may not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility or fitness, the elderly or the very young. It is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users or those with any mobility aids.

Please ensure this access suits your group before booking.

Damage: Important! We are committed to protecting our properties which is why we now take a £35 fee from each booking as a damage waiver. This is included in the price you pay and covers you for up to £500 worth of accidental damages to the property that could occur whilst you are staying.
