Guest, Pontefract - December 28 "Wonderful Christmas visit to family"

Heather cottage is wonderful and has been extended and modernised to a high standard. It is cosy and warm, it has been well insulated and has underfloor heating. The bathrooms are modern with rain shower and hand held showers, the bed is very comfy and the kitchen is well equipped including a dishwasher and washer/dryer. There are lovely touches - the cottage had a Christmas tree and decorations; bread, milk, butter and cheese as well as tea and coffee were provided. I also appreciated the books, including books about the local area and the board games and cards as well as the lovely photo of the original cottage with its thatched roof! The location is wonderful, overlooking boats and views of the hills in the distance. Its so near the harbour and I walked along by the sea to the shop and beach. Parking was easy outside the cottage. I would love to stay here again.

Guest, Hassocks - November 18 "Glorious and in November"

Have now stayed in several Island Escapes properties in the south. All have been great; but Heather Cottage exceeded expectations. Location perfect, and so quiet. Loved the view out over the seaside-y garden, and the layout of the house was just right.

Beautiful cottage lacking mirror in twin room. Information folder should be left on table not in draw. No dustbin bags left to replace. Definitely recommend

Penelope, Bedford - July 23, 2024 "Comfy beds and much more"

I use comfy beds, as this is what was the selling point that finally got me to book it. But it also is steps away from harbour, 15 minute walk along a walk way to the beach so has lovely views. Then from beach it is 2 min walk to coop, chemists, post office, excellent Chinese takeaway, plus others. (You could get to shops from road but I didn't want to).Walk other way, 3 mins, and you can start coastal walk, I didn't get very far that way because I got way laid by excellent swimming spot where I could jump in off rocks and swim (a local man did give me some tips to get best spot for that). The cottage had been modernised, garden vibrant and sun trap in morning, it has large patio doors that give lovely views of surrounding hills and water, boats do get in way of sea views but I could still see when tide was in or out. When we arrived the kitchen had been stocked with local butter, milk, cheese, bread as well as a few teabags and coffee bags.

Keith, PENYSARN - April 27, 2024 "Excellent 5 days"

It was amazing to return to the island after an absence of over 60 years. The cottage was in tip top condition. The ensuits shone!Port St Mary's roads were badly maintained which seriously affected my wife who has a spinal problem. However, I was unable to use the cooker. How to switch it on was a mystery and the instructions were incomplete. We returned having had a restful break.

Tina, TUTBURY BURTON-ON-TRENT - April 8, 2024 "A charming cottage "

A cosy cottage in the harbour overlooking the boats. Beautifully presented and extremely clean. Close to Port St Mary facilities. We particularly loved the Boathouse restaurant, which we highly recommend. It offers delicious food with a warm and friendly welcome. As does the Albert pub a 3 minute walk away.

Heather, Pontefract - August 27, 2023 "Heather at Heather cottage"

What a deceptive cottage, from the outside it looks small but that is deceptive and inside it has been beautifully designed and thought out. It is modern with lots of little details that made it easy to stay and feel like home. It was spotlessly clean and with the large bifold doors and skylights light and airy. The garden was a real sun trap and the easy parking outside made it effortless to stay there. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Kim, Burton-on-trent - July 31, 2023 "Lovely quiet area."

The cottage seems to have been recently refurbished to a high standard everywhere was spotless, the beds were large and comfortable. Both bedrooms had it's own excellent shower ( better than my own at home) and toilet, plenty of towels were supplied. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need for a self catered holiday. Some basic provisions had been supplied which was a nice touch, bread milk cheese etc. Lovely private garden with seating looking out onto the boats. No designated parking spot but never had a problem parking on the rd. outside. Port St Mary is a very quiet area there is proper traditional pub the Albert, with friendly staff just a few minutes walk away by the harbour. If you like quiet place to stay then i highly recommend Heather cottage it's just gorgeous.

Paul, Morpeth - July 15, 2023 "Exceptionally clean and well presented cottage in a lovely location but with some mobility issues."

Exceptionally clean and well presented. Excellent location and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at the cottage.However:-Issue with oven door which was extremely dangerous and not fixed. For a property advertised as mobility friendly - step from decking to garden path extremely high. A proper ramp should be in place as well as at step before garden gate. All seating provided was very low and as a disabled person found this very difficult to use.Quooker tap did not provide boiling water for hot drinks. Kettle had to be used at all times. Kettle too small and took a long time to boil.Fridge/Freezer - suggest space should be found for a larger one.An empty cupboard in kitchen would have been useful

Guest, Stoke Goldington - June 4, 2023 "TT qualifying week 23"

Heather cottage is small but has had the best use of the space with sliding doors etc. The fully retractable garden doors were perfect as our weather was great. We had every thing we needed. Couldn't master the Quooker tap but there was a kettle provided so it didn't matter. Quite a trek each day if you stay for the TT but a lovely quiet part of the island.

Joanne, Filey - April 23, 2023 "Nice property and very clean "

Good location and well renovated, clean property for two people but think 4 might find the kitchen and living space a bit tight. Beds not very comfortable to be honest and a few problems with equipment - but Island Escapes were swift to resolve problems and we had a good holiday.

Robert, Ramsey - April 16, 2023 "Thoroughly enjoyed our staycation! Thank you "

We would have liked an earlier arrival time and a later departure time. We had problems working out the hot water tap so we would have liked a kettle as an alternative. Other than that everything was fine!

Sue, Isle Of Man - March 29, 2023 "Birthday Staycation "

Lovely cottage close to all amenities and a great base in which to enjoy the local walks. I was however a little disappointed to find 2 brown stained mugs upon arrival and cigarette butts left in the outdoor barbecue. E-mailed Malissa at Island Escapes on our first day to notify her but not had a response as of yet. I would however stay here again at some point as everything else was spot on.

Gary, Bromley - December 7, 2022 "Great Weekend Away - Will Be Back"

All communication with Island Escapes was clear, informative and helpful. The accommodation was exactly how described with everything needed for our stay. Only one recommendation would be to upgrade the beds/mattresses in the twin room to make more comfortable. But overall a fantastic cottage in an ideal location. Would definitely stay again.

Helen, Cambridge - November 9, 2022 "Great location for a holiday "

Heather Cottage has been renovated to a high standard. Port St Mary is lovely and we enjoyed some great walks in the south of the island. All in all we had a good week despite the stormy weather. The open plan living space works really well and great for entertaining friends and family on the island. Not sure about the effectiveness of the heating system but house seemed very well insulated. Island Escapes very helpful. Beds in the second bedroom rather uncomfortable.

Susan, Ramsey - September 27, 2022 "Lovely cottage in central area, very modern facilities."

We enjoyed our stay at the beautifully renovated Heather Cottage. Short walk into the town to the shops and places to eat. Andreas is a very nice Italian restaurant. Lots of beautiful walks nearby. Situated in a very quiet area of Port St Mary by the harbour. Very helpful people at Island Escapes to sort out any problems.

Simon, Derby - September 22, 2022 "Very modern throughout "

Great location and very well modernised to a high standard. Good ensuites too. Could do with a grab handle in the showers, I was fine but my parents are very elderly so mother didn't shower for 2 days we were here. Quooker hot tap needs clear instructions. I had to Google instructions as those in the cottage aren't helpful. Great garden area, beautifully maintained but unfortunately the bifold doors were broken but James managed a temporary fix on our 2nd day so thanks for that. We won't be back to this cottage though as it now doesn't accept pets and we are dog owners.

Vincent, Greater Manchester - September 10, 2022 "Our stay at Heather Cottage "

We loved Heather Cottage and we love Port st Mary, and hopefully we will return. One small criticism: as elderly people we had difficulties operating the cooker and the boiling water tap. An on/off switch for the cooker, and a kettle instead of the tap would have been helpful.

Vivienne, Isle Of Man - July 1, 2022 "Beautiful modernised cottage in a lovely location"

My husband and myself with our dogs stayed here for a 4 night staycation while we were having work done in our house.Access via key safe, very straightforward Lovely welcome pack of bread, butter, biscuits, milk etc The cottage has been renovated to a high standard and has all you need for a relaxing stay, lovely comfy beds and the best shower Ive ever used! The open plan living, dining and kitchen areas are very comfortable and tastefully furnished with a fully fitted kitchen area. The garden has decking and a seating area & has been gravelled with lots of lovely plants and shrubs, we kept the door open all the time as its such a lovely view of the boats and ( distant) sea. We had our 2 small dogs with us who loved being in the safe garden, however the decking is a bit high for them to access and we had the odd tumble off when the enthusiasm was too much ( the dogs not me!) If it hadnt been fully booked wed have extended our stay and will definitely be returning.
