Discover 5 Charles Street, a traditional cottage tucked away in the quaint streets of Peel
Book now5 Charles Street is a traditional self-catering cottage with modern facilities tucked away in the quaint cobbled Charles Street, only a hop from the sandy beach!
Sleeping 4 people across 2 bedrooms, the property is based over three floors. Recently refurbished, featuring a brand new kitchen, 5 Charles Street is a wonderful home from home.
Enjoying stunning sunsets, Peel is locally known as the sunset city, and boasts the Isle of Man's only cathedral. A working fishing port, in Peel you can still see Kippers, fish that has been split from tail to head and smoked being cured in the traditional manner at Moores Kipper Yard. In addition to Peel Castle, the House of Manannan provides a fascinating insight into the history of the Isle of Man, from the Viking past to exploring 19th century Peel with a walk around the sailmakers loft, chandlers shop, quayside, complete with sights and smells from the Manx kipper yard, and uncover the importance of the sea to the lives of the people on the Isle of Man.
Charles Street itself is known for being one of the most picturesque streets in Peel. The houses are mostly Peel Sandstone and the traditional street lights give it a really original feel. And whilst you cannot drive to the door of the property, there is plenty of on street parking nearby, and for loading and unloading luggage you can pull a car up close by.

Cottage was well presented and supplied with all we needed + very convenient for beach, shops and bus.Was a bit querky inside and one had to take care of the different levels indoors.Generally all worked well although personally we would not have chosen "golden cutlery"!
The trip didn't start well, one of our dogs, our Beagle, had eaten something she shouldn't. So my wife rushed her to the vets on Tuesday while I went alone to the IoM in my TR6, the house was wonderful, but I felt a little lost as a lone person in Peel and this Tardis of a house. There are actually three bedrooms, one on the top floor not being kitted out yet, I presule thuis may happen later!
Stayed here before & it's a lovely furnished property with everything you could need & more.Bedrooms are lovely with comfy beds tho' a mirror in the second bedroom would help.
Overall the cottage was clean and well equipped. Some hooks; on the back of the bathroom door and in the bedrooms would have been useful. The steps at the top of the stairs were unusual and perhaps present a safety hazard that someone could trip and fall down the stairs (if walking from the bathroom to bedroom). Some short hand rails around the top of the stairs would help to reduce this risks. The shower could have been cleaner, black mould on some parts of the grout and particularly on the mastic between the base and the shower screen.A socket was hanging loose on the wall behind the lounge door.
Lovely cottage in great location near the beach, pubs and shops which has been recently renovated so everything was immaculate. Everything we needed for our stay was included and the welcome pack was appreciated due to our late arrival. This is the third year we have booked a property with Island Escapes in the Peel area and we would definitely book this cottage again. A great week and although there is no parking with the property we always got a spot on the promenade which is a 2 minute walk away.
At very short notice Island Escapes arranged for me to stay in this cottage for 2 days. Exceptional support and service with a lovely cottage on a very pretty street tucked away in Peel.
This cottage is well situated and well appointed. As mentioned in other reviews the 'welcome pack' of staples was appreciated and a lovely touch. The cottage itself was warm and cosy with comfortable furnishings. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in Peel or indeed as a base for exploring the Isle of Man.
This cottage looks unassuming from the outside but is very spacious inside. It has everything you could possible need wnen staying & the complimentary milk, bread, butter & cheese was really appreciated. Everything was spotless & beds really comfy.Would definitely book again.
